Intrusive Thoughts

$333
Acrylic on Canvas20" × 16" × 5/8" in

This piece represents the internal battle of living with intrusive thoughts—the relentless noise, fear, self-doubt, overstimulation, and mental spirals that can feel impossible to escape. The dark, aggressive brushstrokes symbolize the chaos these thoughts create when they demand attention, overlap, and attempt to overpower the mind. But beneath the darkness is color. Light. Energy. Life. The vibrant layers beneath represent the true Self that persists beyond the mental noise. The Self that is creative, aware, feeling, alive, and capable of observing without becoming consumed. What I have learned through this experience is that intrusive thoughts lose power when they are observed rather than obeyed. The more I sit with them without attaching shame, fear, or identity to them, the less control they have over me. This painting is not just about struggle. It is about awareness. About recognizing that thoughts are not always the truth, and that even within mental chaos, there is still beauty, consciousness, and selfhood fighting to be seen.
